The Heaven-Rending Blade (震天の雷剣) is an artifact featured in Moonless Morn. It is comprised of two separate artifacts.
Background
The Heaven Rending Blade's primary purpose is to collect and deconstruct water molecules. This gives it to ability to create hydrogen explosions through the combination of lighting and water. The two component pieces of the artefact each have abilities which provide different aspects of this ability. Both parts of the artifact would resonate with each other and glow in their presence.
Cylinder of the Frozen Sky
The Cylinder of the Frozen Sky (凝空の筒) is a small flute-sized sheath covered in patterns that emit light. It has the ability to control water condensation in the atmosphere, ground and environment, allowing it to generate fog and mist, trigger avalanches and calm snow, wind and blizzards.
Lightning Blade
The Lightning Blade (閃電の刃) is a small sword shaped like a western gladii. It has the ability to generate electricity, coating its owner in electrical power and being able to generate lightning bolts. This artifact fused into the stomach of a White Peak bear, turning it into the Raiju by enlarging its size and cloaking it in lightning. Its powers are said to have changed slightly from its time as part of the beast, now being able to throw thunderbolts.
Moonless Morn
The artifact has split up at some point in the past. The sheath, the Cylinder of the Frozen Sky came into the possession of the Woodland Wanderers clan member Sayu who wielded it in her search for the other half. The Lightning Blade had become fused into the Raiju, a beats who disrupted the ecosystem and natural order of White peak, dubbed 'The False King of the Mountain'. This beast defeated several Matagi who tried to stop it and was largely unstoppable, being able to fry prey with lightning bolts from a distance.
Chunlan, Sayu and her brother Dau slay the creature and retrieve the Lightning Blade. Sayu discovers the nature of the artifacts and its true ability after they use it in combat against 'The Berzerker' who is also targeting the bear.
