East Zemuria (ゼムリア大陸東部) is the eastern half of the continent of Zemuria.

Background

So far, the Kiseki series has predominantly focused on Western Zemuria, making details about its eastern half sparse.[1]

The holy empire of Iska was a major ally of Calvard in the past and used to be the dominant power in East Zemuria and had nine clans that served it's emperor known as the Navagraha. Among these clans were Ikaruga, Ragou, and Heiyue. The empire later collapsed in 1078 and the members of the Navagraha later went their separate ways with Ikaruga becoming one of the strongest Jaeger corps in Eastern Zemuria, Heiyue started helping immigrants from East Zemuria reach the western side of the continent and later became one of the largest criminal syndicates in Calvard and the last surviving member of the Ragou, Arioch, becoming an Immortal.

East Zemuria's inhabitants are referred to as Easterners. Their cultures, manners and customs appear to be inspired by real-life East Asian traditions. Whereas the Western half of Zemuria has been converted to the Septian Church, East Zemurians have largely hold on to their own belief system.

Dragons plays an important role in East Zemurian cultures. They are worshipped as heavenly beasts.[2] Easterners refer to septium veins as 'dragon veins' and [2] are said to have built their greatest cities on places where dragon veins converge since time immemorial. Their ideal has always been to gather the energy of the land and use it to give strength to the nation.

Environmental migration

Over the past few decades, desertification and drought in East Zemuria has worsened, leaving many of its areas uninhabitable.[3] Depletion of the dragon veins has been cited as one possible cause of the desertification.[3] In a letter from Yun Ka-fai to his pupil Rean Schwarzer, he describes the East as "a different world altogether" compared to West Zemuria.[3]

These environmental issues force Easterners to migrate to the Western half. Most travel to Calvard, the easternmost country of Western Zemuria. The enormous influx of immigrants causes tensions within the republic, such as the anti-immigrant terrorist organisation, the Republic Nationalists, attacking the West Zemuria Trade Conference.

Despite not clear whether the East Zemuria's desertification can be resolved, one of the great three disciples of Epstein, L.Hamilton, decided to conduct research on solutions to desertification, with the help from many organizations including Heiyue and the West Zemuria Technology Federation.

Hello there, beautiful. May I have a moment of your time?
Please be aware spoilers for 영웅전설 여의 궤적 II may be present in the following section. Hit [Show] on the right if the show must go on. Adios, amigos!

The farthest region of the East[4] is difficult to reach for currently unknown reasons. Only people who have attained mastery of an art such as Eight Leaves One Blade or Black God One Blade are capable of reaching it, meaning that only a limited number of people have reached that part of the continent; this select group includes Yun Ka-fai and Latoya Hamilton. [5]

There we go, the end of spoilers. Thank you for your time!
