The Navagraha (九曜) are a group of nine guardian clans that served the emperor of Iska.

Background

At the height of the Holy Iskan Empire, the emperor had nine clans in service to him before the empire fel in approximately S.1078. At the time, the Iskan empire was a superpower and governed most of the eastern continent.

Known members

Only three of the clans, or their modern iterations, have been revealed so far:

• Heiyue- an underworld syndicate primarily made up of easterners originating as a mutual aid society for immigrants. They practice martial arts, primarily Gekka and hold a great deal of influence over Langportport.
• Ikaruga -a clan of samurai and ninja making up one of the strongest Jaegercorps in Eastern Zemuria. They use the Hazy Moon and Black God One Blade Styles and operate as jaegers working for the quarreling city states that arose in the wake of the empire's collapse.
• Ragou- Clan made up of westerners. The Artifact Fang of Ragou was passed down generation to generation in the clan. Due to their familiarity with the west, the emperor chose them to accompany him in goodwill missions in Calvard.

Trivia

• Navagraha is a Sanskrit word referring to the celestial bodies comprising the Solar System.
• Other possible candidates for clans include the Matagi and the Wanderers of the Woods who have both existed for generations and were once renowned warrior clans.
