나유타 허셜

Nayuta Herschel (ナユタ・ハーシェル) is a boarding student at Saint-Elysees. Nayuta is the eponymous hero in The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails.

Appearance

Nayuta is a young man with blue hair wearing a cream-collared shirt. He wears a green cape over his tunic, tied with a red lace. He also wears a brown belt and armour circlet attachment around his waist. Nayuta uses a short sword in combat.

Personality

He a very kind, helpful and naturally comedic character to those around him. He is observed to sometimes have a bad habit of losing track of his surroundings, attributed to a lack of sleep.

Background

Nayuta was born in Remnant Isle in 1564 (N.S.) to William and Mary Herschel. William was an astronomer and Mary an observer of star shards. Growing up in this environment, Nayuta soon developed an interest in the unknown and travelling to unravel the mysteries of the world. His hobby is stargazing and always carries a sextant with him. He attends school in the harbor town of Saint Elysees.

In 1574, five years before the start of the game, his parents set out by ship to prove the existence of Lost Heaven, a hypothetical place proposed to exist by Nayuta's father. They never returned, however, and Nayuta was instead raised by his sister, Eartha. Five years ago at his parents' funeral, he met Cygna Alhazen, who cheered him up and the two quickly became friends. The three, alongside Lyra Burton, spent their childhood in happiness. Nayuta and Cygna even formed their own guild to help people in need.

Four months prior to the beginning of the game's events, Nayuta and Cygna sailed away from home to travel the world and prove that the world is not flat. After returning to Remnant Isle, Nayuta goes to Cygna's house in order to complete Orbus Alhazen's request and meet Cygna. Cygna is thinking about resuming the guild now that they're back. After some talk with Eartha, Cygna opens up the letter box and goes back to his home. Then, Nayuta completes a request from a fellow guard Dorado, who wants a lunch made by Eartha. But when Nayuta goes to his home, he only finds Orbus, who says that Cygna is already going somewhere else. Then, Nayuta completes Orbus's test and passes with flying colours.

Trivia

• Both Nayuta and Eartha share the same surname with Towa from the 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 I, II, III, IV series. Although Towa's grandfather is said to have enjoyed stargazing, just like Nayuta, no concrete link between the two has been made as of yet.
• Nayuta's name may be a reference to the sanscrit word for 'Infinity' referring to the reaches of space and the universe, in keeping with the game's astronomical theme naming.
